Xiangqi (Chinese Chess)

Pieces are placed on the intersections of the board's lines, not inside the squares.

Each piece type moves differently: the general stays within its palace, chariots move like rooks, horses move in an L-shape (blockable), cannons capture by jumping over one piece.

The river in the middle restricts some pieces, like elephants, from crossing.

Capture opposing pieces by moving onto their point.

The game ends when a general is checkmated or has no legal moves.
