- A whittling or carving knife per contestant
- A soft wood blank, such as basswood or pine
- Safety gloves (optional)
HOW TO PLAY

Give each contestant an identical wood blank and the same amount of carving time.

Contestants may carve any design, or follow a theme announced before the contest starts.
3
Work slowly and shave thin layers, turning the wood often to check the shape from all sides.
4
Stop carving the moment the time limit is called, whether or not the piece feels finished.
5
Judges examine each piece for craftsmanship, detail, and how closely it matches the intended design.
6
The carving judged best overall wins the contest.
