Watermelon Carving Contest

Give each carver or team an identical whole watermelon and a shared time limit, such as thirty minutes.

Carvers sketch or plan a design directly on the rind before cutting, ranging from simple patterns to full sculptures.

Use knives and scoops to carve away rind and flesh, shaping the design while keeping the melon structurally intact.

Toothpicks or small skewers may be used to attach carved pieces or garnishes to the main piece.

When time is called, all carvers step back from their finished pieces for judging.

Judges score entries on creativity, technical difficulty, and overall presentation to choose a winner.
