MATERIALS
- An 8x8 checkered board
- 12 flat discs each of two colors
HOW TO PLAY
1
Set up each player's twelve pieces on the second and third rows of squares directly in front of them, leaving the middle two rows empty.
2
Unlike Western checkers, pieces here move straight forward, backward, or sideways one square at a time, never diagonally.
3
Capture an opponent's piece by jumping it in a straight line and landing on the empty square beyond, and captures are mandatory whenever available.
4
A piece that reaches the far row is crowned and gains the ability to slide any distance in a straight line, forward or backward.
5
A player who has no pieces left, or whose remaining pieces cannot move, loses the game.
