MATERIALS
- A small pointed wooden peg (the 'tsurka')
- A longer wooden striking stick
- A dug starting hole or marked circle
HOW TO PLAY
1
The striker rests the pointed peg across the edge of a small starting hole and strikes one tip sharply with the long stick to launch it upward.
2
While the peg is in the air, the striker swings again to knock it as far away from the hole as possible.
3
Fielders spread out to try to catch the peg in midair, which ends the striker's turn with no points scored.
4
If the peg is not caught, the striker may attempt a bonus strike by hitting it a second time from wherever it landed to add extra distance before it is measured.
5
The total distance from the hole to the final landing spot, counted in stick-lengths, becomes the striker's score for that turn, and players rotate through an agreed number of turns to determine a winner.
