Tonk (Card Game)
- A standard 52-card deck
Each player is dealt a small hand, typically five cards, with the rest of the deck forming a draw pile and one card turned up to start a discard pile.
On a turn, a player draws a card from either the deck or the discard pile, then discards one unwanted card from their hand.
Players try to arrange their hand into valid sets of matching rank or runs of consecutive cards in one suit, since unmatched cards count against them.
At any point on their turn, a player who has arranged their whole hand into sets and runs may declare and lay the hand down to end the round immediately, called going tonk.
A player can also drop out early if the leftover, unmatched value of their hand is very low, limiting their loss for that round.
Points are tallied based on unmatched card values left in each hand, and the game continues over multiple rounds until a player crosses an agreed point threshold, at which point they are out or the game ends.
