MATERIALS
- A ball woven from twigs, called the koura
- A curved wooden stick for each player
HOW TO PLAY
1
Two teams line up across an open meadow, each defending a goal area marked at opposite ends of the field.
2
Players use their curved sticks to strike and control the woven twig ball, working it toward the opposing team's goal.
3
Players may only move the ball with the curved end of their stick, never with their hands or feet.
4
A goal is scored when a team manages to knock the ball into the marked goal area at the opponent's end.
5
The match is traditionally played each spring as part of a seasonal celebration, with the whole village turning out to watch.
6
The team that scores the most goals by the agreed end of the match is declared the winner.
