MATERIALS
- A bamboo-framed kite, often fitted with a small whistling reed
- A spool of flying line
HOW TO PLAY
1
Head to an open field or riverside area with clear wind and no obstacles overhead.
2
Launch the kite by letting the wind catch it while walking or jogging backward, feeding out line as it lifts.
3
Continue paying out line steadily to help the kite climb higher into steadier wind.
4
Listen for the small reed attached to some kites, which hums or whistles softly as air passes through it while flying.
5
Adjust tension on the line to keep the kite steady, especially if wind gusts change direction suddenly.
6
Reel the kite in slowly and evenly at the end, guiding it down without letting the line go slack.
