MATERIALS
- A traditional paper or cloth kite
- A spool of flying string
HOW TO PLAY
1
Pick a wide open space clear of trees, wires, and other kites' paths.
2
Have one player hold the kite upright while another walks or jogs backward into the wind, letting out string gradually.
3
Once wind catches the kite, feed out more string steadily to help it climb higher.
4
Make small adjustments to the string tension to keep the kite balanced and flying smoothly.
5
Groups can compare whose kite climbs highest or stays airborne longest, or attempt friendly line-crossing duels.
6
Wind the string carefully back onto the spool to bring the kite down at the end of play.
