Takeuma (Bamboo Stilts)
- A pair of bamboo poles or wooden stilts with a foot block lashed partway up each pole
Each player grips one stilt in each hand and steps up onto the foot blocks, using the poles for balance while standing.
The player practices walking by shifting weight from one stilt to the other, moving the poles forward in small steps to stay upright.
Beginners often start by walking short distances between two fixed points before attempting longer routes or turns.
For a race, several players line up on stilts and walk or hop toward a finish line, with anyone stepping off their stilts having to restart from where they fell.
More advanced players sometimes add challenges such as walking backward, going up a slope, or weaving between markers.
The first player to cross the finish line while staying on their stilts for the whole distance wins the race.
