SETTING

MATERIALS
- Scythes or, for a safe party version, foam pool noodles as mock scythes
- Marked rows of grass or a taped-out field
- A stopwatch
MEASUREMENTS
Each competitor's row is roughly 20-30ft (6-9m) long and about 3ft (1m) wide.
HOW TO PLAY
1
Mark out equal parallel rows across a grassy field, one per competitor.
2
Each competitor stands at the start of their row holding their scythe or mock scythe.
3
On the signal, competitors sweep their tool low and steady across the row to clear it as evenly as possible.
4
Judges watch for clean, low, even strokes rather than just raw speed.
5
The first competitor to fully and cleanly clear their row is declared the winner.
6
For safety with real scythes, keep wide spacing between rows and experienced supervision at all times.
