Split into two groups: the 'hares' who lay the trail and the 'hounds' who chase it a few minutes later.

The hares set off across the neighborhood or park, dropping torn paper scraps or chalk arrows at intersections to mark their path.

Hares may lay false trails that dead-end, forcing the hounds to backtrack and search for the real markers.

The hounds follow the marked trail as quickly as possible, reading each clue to stay on course.

The chase ends when the hounds catch up with the hares or reach the hidden finish, where a small treat awaits.
