MATERIALS
- Three barrels per team
- Horses (or, for a casual version, stick horses or bicycles)
- A marked arena or field
MEASUREMENTS
Barrels are commonly set in a triangle roughly 60-90ft (18-27m) apart.
HOW TO PLAY
1
Set up three barrels in a triangle pattern for each team's lane.
2
The first rider on each team starts at the timing line and rides a cloverleaf pattern around all three barrels without knocking any over.
3
After clearing the pattern, the rider races back to the starting line and tags the next teammate.
4
The next rider repeats the same cloverleaf pattern, and the relay continues until every team member has ridden.
5
Knocking over a barrel adds a time penalty, and the team with the fastest total time after penalties wins.
