MATERIALS
- Lively fiddle music (recorded or live)
- A clear space with a solid floor for footwork
HOW TO PLAY
1
Start the fiddle music and have dancers face each other or form a small circle.
2
Dancers perform quick, light footwork close to the ground, keeping the upper body relaxed while the feet do intricate steps.
3
Alternate between two contrasting step patterns as the music's tune shifts between its two parts.
4
Take turns having one dancer show off a fancy step while others try to copy it on the next repeat.
5
Increase the tempo gradually, challenging dancers to keep their footwork clean as the pace quickens.
6
The dancer who keeps the cleanest, fastest footwork the longest is cheered as the round's winner.
