MATERIALS
- A smooth, rounded heavy stone
- An open field with a marked throwing line
HOW TO PLAY
1
Each competitor takes a turn standing behind the marked line while holding the stone with one or both hands.
2
The thrower may take a short run-up or a standing stance, then heaves the stone forward using a pushing or swinging motion rather than a simple toss.
3
A throw only counts if the thrower's foot does not cross the line before the stone leaves their hands.
4
Officials or fellow players mark where the stone first lands, measuring the distance from the throwing line.
5
Each competitor usually gets several attempts, with only their farthest legal throw counted toward the final result.
6
The competitor whose best throw travels the farthest is declared the winner.
