Pedro (Cinch)
- A standard 52-card deck
- Scorepad and pencil
Each player is dealt a hand of cards, and players bid in turn on how many points they think their team can capture that hand, with the highest bidder naming the trump suit.
Certain cards in the trump suit are worth bonus points when captured in tricks, including the highest trump, a special low trump, and a particular off-suit card that counts as trump for that hand.
Play proceeds in tricks, with players required to follow the suit led when possible, and the highest trump or highest card of the suit led winning each trick.
Partners keep track of which valuable trump cards have been played, since capturing them in a trick is what actually earns points for the hand.
After all tricks are played, each team's captured point cards are totaled, and the bidding team must meet their bid or lose that many points instead.
Hands are dealt repeatedly with scores accumulating, and the first team to reach an agreed winning score, commonly 62, wins the game.
