Players form a large circle with one or two players standing in the middle as targets.

Circle players throw the ball at the players in the middle, trying to hit them below the shoulders.

A hit player is temporarily out and waits near the circle edge, though rules can allow bounce-back reentry after a set number of rounds.

The last player remaining in the center without being hit becomes the round's champion.

New middle players are chosen for the next round, often including the champion and a newly selected challenger.
