Build or bring a lightweight kite and find an open field with steady wind.

Launch the kite by running with it or having a helper release it into a gust.

Let out string gradually as the kite climbs, keeping steady tension on the line.

Once airborne, guide the kite higher by pulling and releasing string in short pulls.

Compete informally with friends to see whose kite flies highest or stays up longest.

Some players try crossing strings with another kite to playfully cut it loose.
