Lay out the cross-shaped board and give each player a set of counters starting in their home area.

Throw the cowrie shells to generate a move count based on how many land face up.

Move a counter along the marked path that number of spaces, capturing an opponent's counter by landing exactly on its space.

Certain squares are marked safe, protecting any counter resting there from capture.

Guide all your counters around the full path and into the finishing square; the first player to bring every counter home wins.
