Place the short stick across a small marked pit or notch on the ground.

Use the long stick to tap one end of the short stick sharply, popping it up into the air.

While it is airborne, swing the long stick to strike the short stick and send it flying as far as possible.

Other players in the field try to catch the flying short stick before it touches the ground to end that turn early.

If the stick lands uncaught, measure or estimate the distance to score that turn, often using stick-lengths as a unit.

Rotate turns among players, and whoever racks up the farthest total distance across several tries wins.
