Ludus Latrunculorum

Set up both sets of pieces in opposing rows on the grid board.

Players alternate moving one piece per turn, in a straight line along a row or column, any number of open squares.

Sandwich an opposing piece between two of your own pieces in a straight line to capture and remove it.

Pieces can move freely between enemy pieces without being captured, since capture only happens on the turn a trap is completed.

The game ends when one player has captured enough enemy pieces that the opponent can no longer mount an effective defense.
