With a quick snapping motion, throw the top onto the ground so it lands spinning on its point while you pull back the string.

Players take turns launching their tops into a marked circle on the ground.

A common contest is to see whose top spins the longest without falling over or leaving the circle.

In a competitive variant, players try to launch their top so it strikes and knocks another player's top out of the circle.

The player whose top spins longest, or who successfully strikes out rivals, wins the round.
