La Vibora de la Mar

Two players face each other, join raised hands to form an arch, and secretly each choose a symbol to represent, such as different fruits.

The rest of the players form a line, holding the waist or shoulders of the player ahead, forming the body of the sea snake.

Singing a traditional call-and-response song, the line snakes forward and passes underneath the raised arch one player at a time.

On the song's final line, the arch players lower their arms to gently capture whoever is passing through at that moment.

The captured player is quietly asked which symbol they choose and goes to stand behind that arch player.

The song repeats until every player has been sorted into one of the two lines, and the two groups can then have a friendly tug-of-war to finish the game.
