La Víbora de la Mar
- No equipment required
Two players face each other, join both hands overhead to form a raised arch, and secretly agree between themselves which one represents a melon and which represents a watermelon.
The remaining players form a line, each holding the waist or shoulders of the player in front, and begin winding underneath the raised arch while everyone sings the traditional verse about the sea snake.
At the exact moment the song ends, the two players forming the arch drop their arms and trap whichever player happens to be passing underneath at that instant.
The captured player is quietly asked to choose between the melon and the watermelon, then goes to stand behind whichever arch-player represents that choice.
The line reforms and the song starts again, repeating the winding and capturing process until every player has been caught and sorted into one of the two groups.
Once everyone is divided into two lines, the game often finishes with a friendly tug-of-war between the melon and watermelon teams.
