MATERIALS
- A curved wooden club
- A leather or wooden ball
- A target post or door
MEASUREMENTS
Played across an open field or frozen ice, with targets set 100+ feet (30m) apart.
HOW TO PLAY
1
Players agree on a target, traditionally a post, door, or tree, somewhere across an open field or frozen canal.
2
Each player strikes the ball with a curved club, aiming to reach the target in as few strokes as possible.
3
Players take turns hitting from wherever their ball came to rest after the previous stroke.
4
A stroke that hits the target directly, without needing extra taps to finish, ends that player's turn for the hole.
5
Whoever reaches the target in the fewest total strokes wins that round, and new targets can be chosen for further rounds.
