DIFFICULTY
SETTING

MATERIALS
- One paper or plastic kite per flyer
- A spool of strong string
- Open sky with steady wind
HOW TO PLAY
1
Each flyer launches their own kite and lets out string until it catches a steady wind and climbs.
2
Maneuver your kite by pulling and releasing string, angling it to fly higher, dive, or drift sideways.
3
To challenge another flyer, cross your string over or under theirs and saw it back and forth to try to cut their line.
4
A flyer whose string is cut loses their kite, which drifts free for spectators to chase and claim.
5
The last flyer with an intact kite still airborne wins the round.
6
Traditional matches use line coated for cutting, which can injure hands and bystanders; casual play is safer with plain string and a simple stay-aloft-longest contest instead.
