MATERIALS
- A cross-shaped or circular race board
- A handful of cowrie shells used as dice
- A distinct set of playing pieces for each player
HOW TO PLAY
1
Each player chooses a color and places their full set of pieces at their starting point on the board.
2
On a turn, a player throws the cowrie shells onto the ground and counts how many land mouth-up to determine how many spaces to move.
3
A player moves one piece the counted number of spaces along the shared track, choosing which piece to advance if more than one is already in play.
4
Landing exactly on a space already occupied by an opponent's piece sends that piece back to its owner's starting point.
5
Certain marked spaces on the board act as safe havens where pieces cannot be sent back, encouraging players to race for those spots.
6
The first player to move all of their pieces around the full track and back to home wins the game.
