HOW TO PLAY

Two players sit facing each other, each with a thumb piano or similar plucked instrument.

The first player plays a short, simple melodic phrase a few notes long.

The second player tries to echo the same phrase back as closely as possible.

Listeners judge how close the echo was, and the roles switch for the next phrase.

Continue trading phrases, letting them grow slightly more complex, until the players agree to stop.
