SETTING

MATERIALS
- Two padded practice sticks (bois)
- Drums or call-and-response singers to set rhythm
- A marked circular sparring area
HOW TO PLAY
1
Two competitors face off inside a circle formed by onlookers who clap and chant to a drumbeat.
2
Each holds a long stick and uses it to block, parry, and tap the opponent's stick or shoulders in time with the rhythm.
3
Footwork should stay light and rhythmic, moving with the drumbeat rather than standing flat-footed.
4
A clean touch to the opponent's body with controlled force scores a point; wild or uncontrolled swings are stopped by onlookers.
5
The bout ends when one side yields or a judge calls it, and the crowd's rhythm shifts to celebrate the winner.
