SETTING

MATERIALS
- Lively joropo or harp music (recorded or live)
- A clear space with a solid floor for footwork
HOW TO PLAY
1
Start the music and have dancers pair up or form a small line facing each other.
2
Dancers perform "zapateado" footwork, stamping quick, sharp steps against the floor in time with the music's beat.
3
Partners alternate leading short footwork phrases for the other to copy back.
4
Increase the complexity of the stamped patterns as the song builds, mixing heel and toe strikes.
5
Circle around each other periodically while keeping the stamped rhythm going without pause.
6
The pair or dancer who sustains the cleanest, most energetic footwork through the whole song is applauded as the round's winner.
