MATERIALS
- A small iron or steel throwing ball (a 'bullet')
MEASUREMENTS
Played along a stretch of quiet country road roughly 1-2 miles long.
HOW TO PLAY
1
Players agree on a finish point far down a road and take turns hurling a heavy metal ball ahead along the route.
2
Each player throws with an underhand swinging motion, aiming to send the ball as far as possible while keeping it on the road.
3
After every throw, the group walks to where the ball landed before the next throw is taken from that spot.
4
Players alternate turns, and whoever reaches the agreed finish point in the fewest throws wins that stretch.
5
A full match is often played over several such stretches, with the overall winner having the lowest total throw count.
