HOW TO PLAY
1

Each competitor stands behind a marked throwing line holding a rubber gumboot by the ankle or toe.

2

On their turn, the competitor swings and hurls the gumboot as far as possible down the field using an underarm or overarm throw.

3

Officials or fellow players mark the spot where the gumboot first lands, ignoring any additional distance gained from rolling or bouncing.

4

Each competitor is usually given a set number of throws, such as three attempts, with only the longest throw counting toward their final result.

5

Competitors sometimes divide into age or skill categories so throws are compared fairly among similar competitors.

6

After every competitor has completed their throws, the longest measured distance overall wins the contest.
