SETTING
Outdoor
MATERIALS
- A long stick (danda)
- A small tapered piece of wood (gilli)
- A small marked hole
HOW TO PLAY
1
Balance the tapered gilli across the edge of the hole and use the danda to strike its raised end, popping it into the air.
2
While the gilli is airborne, strike it again with the danda to send it flying as far as possible into the field.
3
Fielders attempt to catch the gilli before it lands to end the batter's turn and take over batting themselves.
4
If uncaught, the batter measures the distance in danda-lengths from the hole to where it landed, adding to their score.
5
Players rotate through batting and fielding roles, and whoever accumulates the greatest distance across their turns wins.
