Forty-Five

Deal five cards to each player and turn the next card face up to help set the trump suit.

Players may bid or pass based on their hand strength, with the highest bidder naming the trump suit if it differs from the turned card.

In the trump suit, certain cards jump to the top of the ranking, most notably the five, jack, and ace of hearts, ranked above all others regardless of suit.

Players play one card per trick, following suit when possible, with trump cards beating any non-trump card played.

The trick winner leads the next trick, and this continues until all five cards from each hand are played.

Score points for tricks won across multiple hands; the first player or team to reach the agreed target score wins the game.
