Ecarte

Deal five cards to each player and turn the next card to determine the trump suit.

Before play begins, either player may discard unwanted cards and draw the same number of replacements from the stock to improve their hand.

The non-dealer leads the first card, and players must follow suit if possible or play a trump if unable to follow.

The player who wins three of the five tricks in a hand scores a point, or two points if they win all five.

Play continues over several hands until one player reaches the agreed winning score, typically five points.
