MATERIALS
- 1 loop of strong string or sinew, roughly 30cm long
HOW TO PLAY
1
Two competitors sit facing each other on the floor with their legs interlocked for stability.
2
The loop of string is placed around one ear of each competitor, so the string connects the two of them ear to ear.
3
On a signal, both competitors lean back slowly, pulling against the string using only the tension against their ears.
4
Competitors are not allowed to jerk suddenly, since the contest rewards steady, controlled pulling rather than a sharp yank.
5
The round ends when one competitor lets the loop slip off their ear because the tension becomes too great.
6
Winners often continue on to face other victors in a bracket, testing endurance for tolerating the steady pressure.
