Down by the Banks

Sit in a circle with each player resting a hand palm-up on the knee of the player beside them.

Chant the rhyme together while tapping each hand in turn around the circle in rhythm.

Whoever's hand is tapped on the final word of the rhyme pulls that hand away quickly.

The tapping player tries to slap the hand before it is withdrawn.

If the hand is caught, that player is out or takes a small forfeit; otherwise play continues to the next hand.

Keep circling until only one or two players remain.
