HOW TO PLAY

Arrange the symbolic objects on a low table in front of a seated one-year-old child during a first-birthday gathering.

Family members gently encourage the child to reach out and grab whichever object catches their interest.

The object the child picks up first is playfully interpreted as a sign of their future interests or fortune.

Guests cheer and celebrate whichever item is chosen, often taking photos of the moment.

The child may be given a few tries if they grab more than one object at once, letting everyone see all their instincts.
