HOW TO PLAY
1

Everyone joins hands or links arms to form a large circle facing inward.

2

A lead singer calls out a short verse, and the group answers back together in call-and-response fashion.

3

The whole circle steps sideways in rhythm, moving slowly clockwise or counterclockwise as the song continues.

4

Verses can be improvised on the spot, often teasing, celebrating a season, or telling a small story.

5

Speed and energy build gradually as the singing continues late into an evening gathering.

6

The circle keeps rotating and singing until the group decides to end the session, often after many rounds of verses.
