Daruma-san ga Koronda (Japanese Statue Tag)

One player, the 'oni,' stands at one end facing away from the group, who line up at the opposite end.

The oni calls out the phrase 'Daruma-san ga koronda' (the daruma doll has fallen) and then spins around quickly to face the group.

While the phrase is being said, players creep forward; the instant the oni finishes and turns, everyone must freeze like a statue.

Anyone caught still moving is sent back to the starting line, or in some versions joins hands with the oni to form a chain.

A player who reaches and tags the oni before being caught wins and becomes the new oni for the next round.
