DIFFICULTY
SETTING
Outdoor
MATERIALS
- Heavy polished granite stones
- Brooms for sweeping
- A sheet of ice with marked target circles
MEASUREMENTS
Ice sheet roughly 45m long, with a circular target (the house) about 3.7m across at each end.
HOW TO PLAY
1
Teams alternate sliding stones down the ice toward the circular target at the far end.
2
A player releases the stone with a gentle push and a slight rotation, aiming for the center of the target.
3
Teammates may sweep the ice in front of a moving stone with brooms to reduce friction and adjust its distance and curve.
4
After all stones are thrown, the team with the stone closest to the center scores a point for each of their stones nearer than the opponent's closest stone.
5
Play continues for a set number of ends (rounds); the team with the higher total score wins.
