- A clean coin or ring hidden inside
HOW TO PLAY

Prepare a large serving of mashed potatoes and hide a clean coin or ring somewhere inside the dish before serving.

Serve everyone a portion without revealing where the hidden item was placed.

Players eat carefully, watching for the object hidden in their portion.

Whoever finds the coin or ring in their serving is said to be due good fortune in the year ahead.

Discuss as a group what the tradition predicts for the lucky finder before moving on to dessert.
