HOW TO PLAY
1
Line competitors up at the base of neighboring trees of similar height.
2
On the starting signal, each climber grips the trunk with hands and feet, using an ankle rope loop for grip if trained to do so.
3
Climb hand over hand up the trunk as fast as possible, staying steady against the trunk's sway.
4
Touch or pick a marked coconut, frond, or flag near the top to confirm the climb is complete.
5
Descend under control rather than sliding recklessly, since the descent also counts toward finishing time.
6
The first climber back down at the base after touching the top marker wins the race.
