Draw the cross-shaped path and give each player four counters of one color starting at their home corner.

Toss the cowrie shells, or roll dice, to determine how many spaces a counter may move that turn.

Move a counter that many spaces, aiming to land on an opponent's counter to send it back to start.

Certain marked squares act as safe zones where counters cannot be captured.

Race all four counters around the board and home; the first player to bring every counter in wins.
