MATERIALS
- Small, controlled bonfires or rows of lit candles in fireproof containers
- Water buckets nearby for safety
HOW TO PLAY
1
Arrange several small, safely contained fires or candle rows in a line, spaced enough to jump between and over safely.
2
Line up players who each take a turn running and jumping over a small fire, one at a time.
3
As you jump, call out a traditional phrase wishing away your paleness and troubles while wishing for the fire's warmth and energy.
4
Keep a safe distance between jumpers and always have water or sand on hand in case of stray sparks.
5
Continue until everyone who wants a turn has jumped, celebrating together once the fires burn down safely.
