Castells
- Wide sashes or cloth belts for back support and grip
- Open flat ground
Form a dense crowd of supporters, called the base, who link arms and brace their shoulders to create a stable foundation.
Stronger climbers stand on the base's shoulders to form the first level, then additional climbers stack up level by level on the shoulders below.
Each new climber ties on a wide sash and uses it as a handhold while others below boost and steady them as they ascend.
The lightest and most agile member, usually a child, climbs to the very top and raises a hand to signal the tower is complete.
Once the top signal is given, climbers descend in reverse order from the top down while the base continues bracing until everyone reaches the ground safely.
Groups practice progressively taller and more complex stacking patterns, with a successful full build-and-dismantle counting as a completed tower.
