MATERIALS
- A long tapered wooden pole called a caber
MEASUREMENTS
Caber typically measures several meters long and is tapered from a wide base to a narrower tip
HOW TO PLAY
1
Lift the caber upright with its narrow end resting in your cupped hands and its length balanced against your shoulder.
2
Take a short running start while keeping the caber vertical and balanced.
3
At the peak of your run, heave the caber upward and forward so it flips end over end.
4
Aim for the caber to land with the narrow end striking the ground first and the far end flipping past it in a straight line.
5
Judges score the toss based on how closely the caber lands pointing directly away from the thrower, ideally at the twelve o'clock position.
6
The competitor with the straightest, most controlled toss among all attempts is declared the winner.
