- A small hanging target
HOW TO PLAY
1
Hang a small target, traditionally a deer ear, from a raised branch or frame at a set distance from the shooters.
2
Each participant lines up and takes a turn shooting an arrow at the target using a hunting bow.
3
Elders or organizers call out encouragement and mark hits, since the activity is meant to celebrate skill and community pride.
4
Younger or first-time participants often go through the motion with guidance from an experienced archer standing nearby.
5
After every participant has taken their shots, the group gathers to celebrate the best marksmen with food and singing.
