Brandub (Irish Tafl Game)

Place the king in the center square with four defenders around it, and set the eight attacking pieces at the midpoints of the board's edges.

All pieces move any distance in a straight line, horizontally or vertically, without jumping over others.

Capture an enemy piece by trapping it between two of your own pieces, or against a corner square.

The defending player wins if the king reaches any of the four corner squares.

The attacking player wins by trapping the king so it cannot move to any open square.
