Bao
- Wooden board with four rows of eight pits
- 64 seeds or small stones
Board has 4 rows of 8 pits, each player controls the two rows nearest to them
Begin by placing a set number of seeds into designated starting pits according to the agreed opening pattern.
On your turn, pick up all seeds from one pit on your side and sow them one by one into the following pits.
If your final seed lands in an empty pit on your own front row directly across from an opponent's occupied pit, capture the opponent's seeds.
Captured seeds are then sown starting from the pit just captured from, which can trigger a chain of further captures.
Players alternate turns, always choosing pits that still contain seeds until no legal move remains for one side.
The game ends when one player cannot move; the opponent then holds the greater share of seeds and wins.
